The smell of jasmine reminds me of my aunt's house. Jasmine tea reminds me of my mom's dinners. Cigarette smoke reminds me of intellectual talks with my dad. And the petals from a crabapple tree remind me of being a kid and playing in the yard.

I love this question! I went with my mother to the Farmer's Market and as I was passing by the seasoning aisle, I stopped to smell all of the seasonings I hadn't ever heard of before or used. While doing that, I came across a herb whose scent has always been in the back of my mind. I believe they were anise seeds, but I'm not sure. I've already forgotten what it's called, but it reminds me of my days in Africa when I was really little. I hadn't realized it was a memory; I'd always thought it was a dream I'd had that I'd mixed up for reality, but the scent reminded me of the sprinkles I used to eat back home. I remembered they were bigger, thicker, than the sprinkles we have here, and that they were really seeds sugarcoated and colored. My mom hates the scent, but I love it because of the memory--the taste was also great. Another scent that reminds me of home is blood. I have a really sensitive sense of smell, and most times, I can smell things that the rest of my family can't. One of those things being blood, which also makes me fell faint. I cut my finger three weeks ago, actually, and ended up fainting from the blood. It wasn't even a big cut. Anyway, I have an inch long scar on my index finger that I got when I was about five from a razor I'd cut myself with. I hate the smell of rain because it smells like blood where I live, and anything that smells like blood invokes the most vivid memory I have, which was of me cutting my finger. I still remember all of the blood and the coffee (it was what we used there) that my mom used to staunch the bleeding. The smell of coffee beans (not just any coffee, but fresh coffee) and blood make me feel a little sick till this day. I'm still a coffee person, though. Passion fruit--one of my favorite fruits--reminds me of my happier days in Africa. We used to make juice out of the passion fruit. Certain other smells that I've come across only a few times in my life are hard to explain. I'm not even sure how I would even begin describing all of the smells that recall memories for me. Most of them are from my younger days. My happier days. But you're right about Elmer's glue and crayons and colored pencils and markers. Those smells make my heart race--and not in a good way. When I went to see my youngest sister's school with her, walking through the halls was very hard. I kept remembering my days in school, and while they weren't traumatic, I don't want to go back to them. I was so relieved to get out of there. Great question, Ris! :D

The smell of mock orange bush, wild plum blossoms and lilacs remind me of my childhood home. We lived WAY out in the country and we kids had the most fun playing outside. Our yard had the BEST fragrance, and I have yet to smell that particular combination. I'm smiling just remembering it.
The smell of lamb cooking in a gas oven always reminds me of my beloved grandma. That's what we always had for Easter and the whole extended family would get together.

The smell of smoke, and alcohol bring me memories but not good ones! I'd have to say the sound of a creek bubbling and crickets chirping, smell of mud and the flavor of freshly made cream cheese pound cake, bring me the ♥GOOD♥ memories.

Joss Sticks smoke fragrance: reminds me of my deceased mother who used to religiously offer prayers and stuff during the festive seasons. Accompanied by sumptuous dinner spread of all the Chinese cuisine delicacies.
Thus it always brought back fond memories whenever I bypass joss stick filled places.
