He does realize that she was a good thing so he doesn't want to let her go completely. On the other hand, he may have not been the marrying type to begin with, hence the cheating. He probably knows in his heart that he can't be faithful and he doesn't want to hurt her again because he does love her.

I don't have the time or patience to read the entire thing so I will just talk about divorce in general. Jesus said the only way a divorce will be recognized by god is if it was due to adultery. In any other case it is a sin and if you remarry or have sex with another person then you have committed adultery because God did not recognize that divorce.

She's falling back into his trap again!
He wants her but doesn't know how to keep her, he wants her b/c someone else does and he wants her but can't be faithful.... He knows she's a good women, he loves her when he wants her to be there, he doesn't want to hurt her but when temptations are close he forgets and he feels at times she deserves someone else who will treat he right yet when she finds that potential person he steps back in b/c he thinks he'll loss her for good...
Wouldn't you be confused? She just needs to be strong and see the patterens of his life. This is probably the only way he knows how to love someone...

Its obvious he's just not ready. No matter how much you want him to change or have a better relationship he won't. Both parties have to be an agreement before they can move forward as a couple. Therapy may help.

Unless she is determined to destroy her life, she needs to move past this.
She is allowing him to return into her life, this is not only on his part...it takes two. This sounds like she is just offering herself up as a booty call, and the guy is trying not to end that aspect of it, but at the same time, not let it get any further.

He wants to keep on playing the field. He really doesn;t want to get remmary, he just wants to string you along and play you some more... just so he knows you are still there ALWAYS available for him and not moving on with your life.
Wake up and smell the coffee.
Good luck

Sounds like he probably loves her well enough, but doesn't like what happens when they're together permanently.
Perhaps, despite his affection for her, he doesn't want to put himself back into a situation he's already been thrown out of.

All he,s doing is keeping her from moving on and getting someone else, while he,s still out there doing what he,s famous for. Love is blind this I know, I,ve had them on myself so this is what you tell her here,s what you do. Listen: Take that rod that,s on those blinds and turn it until you can see what his butt is up to. then she,ll be able to get out.

She is a weak woman who allows herself to be used. Tell her to wake up and move on with her life.
