I think it's cool to say that you "want", but that it won't matter either way....not like you're going to love the child less if it's not the gender you wanted......people understand that. So I think when they are asking, they are really asking what you hope for......

I already have a boy and of course I kind of wanted a girl, you know so I could get the cute pink frilly girl clothes. Ultrasound just showed a definate boy. I'm still happy because they'll be close enough to play but now people apologize when I say what I'm having. That annoys me. So I wouldn't tell anyone but your parents and maybe a close friend what you're really hopeing for that way if you find out you're haveing something else people don't appologize and act as if you don't want the baby anymore.

I am secretly hoping for a girl, but will be just as happy if it's a boy! I love not knowing though... everyone has a different theory as to why it's a boy / girl... I look forward to crushing at least 50% of those theories in 6 months time!

I don't care how many people say that they don't care-the majority of them DO secretly wish for one or the other. Now I'm not saying that they won't be happy with either, but they have a preference, even if it's slight.
I had twin boys the first go 'round. I really wanted a girl the 2nd time! I would have been just as happy having another boy, but I really wanted a girl. (I got what I wished for!)

Yes, many women and men hope for a certain gender, even though they won't admit it. After having 3 girls, my husband and I really wanted a boy. During my 4th pregnancy, people would say to me"I am sure you are hoping for a boy, right" I would say yes because that is what I wanted. Did I love my baby any less when I found out it was a girl? No! I love all of my girls and even though I wish I had experienced raising a boy, I wouldn't change a thing.

Of course sometimes we feel that way...can't help how we feel as a matter of fact. I have a 5 month old boy and when I had my US and found out it wasn't a girl I cried and my husband was so confused....but I thought a girl was what I needed since I had one and she was great but I can't imagine another girl would have been better now that I have a boy, I love my little mommy's boy!! But at the time I couldn't control how I felt...so I understand...but I think you will find either is great after you get use to the idea....Good Luck

Sure. There is always a feeling that you might connect better with one instead of the other, and whether parents will or want to admit it, they will probably favor one child a little over another, but not necessarily all the time. We lost a baby boy, and I always felt guilty because I had secretly wanted a girl.

With my first pregnancy i always hope for a boy and i asked god to give me a boy but i think god knew what he was doing because if he did give me my wish i wouldn't have had anymore kids. But this time around that i am pregnant again i just said in my mind that i hope its a boy but i didn't ask god for a boy because i told maybe i will get another girl than i might just pull out my hair but hopefully its a boy but looks like the way my belly is shaped and the sono gram everything going towards a boy and if it is than having kids are over cause than i will have my set one girl and one boy but if it isn't a boy than i will just be happy with my two girls and call it quits anyways cause kids are expensive now and days.

I've always wanted a girl. So, when people would ask I'd tell them, but I also would joke that I'd be destined to have a boy, and that would be good for my husband. I think you can want one or the other and people shouldn't judge that you wouldn't love the baby just as much if it wasn't what you were hoping for initially. I'm having a girl by the way :-).

I really thought I wanted a girl and had no reservations with telling people this but once I found out I 'm having a little boy i saw the bigger picture and I'm so happy the thing is I'm a feminine tom boy and I'm a reptilian critter lover in general sharing that with another boy will be great maybe when I get a little older and more patient god will bless me with a girl !!

That is what I tell people. I don't care as long as it's healthy, but secretly I hope it's a boy. Will find out on May 4th. Also, I think that if you really listen to your body, it will tell you!
