...while watching Donnie Darko with my missus (of 8.5 years) [she found the film creepy and wasnt enjoying it], I decided to play gently with her right nipple, trying to gently pull it. Before I could get near it, she snapped at me, wrapped herself up and told me to not even think about it. I was hurt by this cajoling.... what did i do wrong?

Being rude.
She wasn't in a good mood to begin with and you just made things worse by using your OTHER brain.

Dude, Nipples are moody and there is a lot to be said for timing. By the way you describe your intent, she was surrounded by creepiness...you being one! Next time you feel like pulling on something, I suggest you unzip your pants and go after it. Enjoy!

In her mind, she probably felt like a movie that she found creepy was getting you excited and aroused. Had you turned it off and put something in she liked then tried it, I bet you would have had a much better result.

DUH! You have been married 8.5 years. Well if you haven't noticed, women don't like it when you just grab there nipple when there not in the mood. Maybe try a little kiss. That might not freak so much.

You went for her right nipple when clearly you should have gone for the left one.

Maybe you should have tried the left nipple, instead.

:-p

Maybe her nipples/breasts were just tender or sore (they get that way, sometimes).

She's creeped out by a movie, and you respond by making a sexual advance...

Kind of insensitive.

She was just in a bad mood but she
should not have taken it out on you...

If you have been married for 8.5 years, you should know what you did wrong!
