attempt to contact the gym owners. if they filed bankruptcy they would have to include your name in the bankruptcy to get the amount they owe you written off. the bankruptcy court would have sent you a letter. but basically what i would do is contact the local DA or prosecutor. and file a report. your probably not the only one they screwed. good luck PS when i sign up for my yearly membership i pay monthly.

It depends on a couple of things.
One, your contract may state that it is non-refundable no matter what.
Two, the contract may be with a company that no longer exists, rather than an individual. You'd have to go through a long and expensive investigation just to track the money to an individual's pocket and "pierce the corporate veil" to make them cough it up.
Theoretically, you should get a pro-rata amount of what you paid, but finding the person who should pay you probably isn't worth the amount you'd eventually get.

Most people will not know the cost of the specific Gold's Gym in Las Vegas. However, at my Gold's Gym, it costs fifty bucks per month! Personally I think that is very expensive, but like you it is the closest gym to my house. They are also into body building more then other workouts. At my gym they only have nine treadmills and compared to the YMCA that is not that much. Good luck!!

I believe if the gym closes, thats it. I OWED money and couldnt pay them, when I went, they were closed, they can not collect. Im in Florida, too. But, you can get a lawyer, if itsll be worth it and if the former gym owner can be found, Im sure youll have a case.

if you kept the contract you signed, read it. if you are entitled to your money back, go get it. if they are being difficult, small claims court will fix everything : ). but usually gyms protect themselves from that kind of mishap. keep a sharp eye on that contract. Peace!

Check to see if they filed bankruptcy -- check your nearest bankruptcy court -- ours is in Tampa -- but you may be in a different area. Contact every name in the bankruptcy and see what kind of reply you get back. If they filed, call the bankruptcy clerk and ask them what you can do and what to file.
