Depending on your take of history, Americans may have already had their first Lutheran president.
This is from :http://www.cojoweb.com/first-president.html#John%20Hanson
"John Hanson (first U.S. president under Articles of Confederation to serve one full year term) Hanson, whose father was a Lutheran pastor, was born and reared on the eastern shore of Chesapeake Bay and later moved to Mulberry Grove in Maryland's frontier Frederick County. In the summer and fall of 1774 he joined his fellow citizens in opposing the Boston Port Bill passed in March by the British Parliament. His leadership was noted in elections to the county's Committee of Correspondence and Committee of Observation. He was one of their delegates to the Provincial Convention at Annapolis in July 1775 and in 1779 was elected a Maryland delegate to the Continental Congress. On March 1, 1781, he signed the Articles of Confederation on behalf of Maryland, the last of the 13 states to sign. On November 5, 1781, he was elected and served for one year as the first president of the Continental Congress. Hanson was chosen by Maryland as one of its two citizens to be honored by placing their statues in Statuary Hall in our nation's capitol. He died in 1783. "
Hanson's father was a Lutheran Pastor, so then he was a PK (one step away from hell's spawn).
And (gulp) ELCA has John Hanson listed on their website, so he must have been Lutheran (although I'd be willing to bet, leaning more toward the LCMS variety than the ELCA variety).
And for some really YUMMY Lutheran history (albeit again on an ELCA site) go here:
http://www.stpaulsryebrook.com/excerpts/tr_29.htm
But according to snopes, Hanson wasn't really the first US President, see: http://www.snopes.com/history/american/hanson.htm
Regardless, I like the fact that an actual Lutheran has a firm foothold in United States history.
I'll stop here...

It's an evil white conspiracy. In all honesty, we are living in a democracy and the ones are the men and women who're elected. Joe Lieberman, a Jew, used to be very virtually elected Vice President. However, the truth of such a lot of presidents being white protestants has plenty to do with our traditions as a country established by way of white Protestant guys, the truth of Protestantism being the most important religion within the nation and whites the most important racial institution.
