I need to know where the doorwiring is that controls the dome light in my "03 Ranger. This is a common problem with all late model Ford pickups , so I'm hoping someone can help!

Actually the switch is mounted to the door latch...remove the inner panel, unplug the wiring harness to the switch and twist the switch to remove and replace it.

The dome light works on a grounding circuit. Remove the switch on the door post.
Remove the plug. If the light stays lit, then you may have a chaffed wire between the door post & dome light.

It could be a shorted wire going to one of the door switches. When you open the door the switch will put a ground on the wire and the light will come on. If the wire is shorted to ground then the light will not go off, since it is still grounded.

remove switch from door jam disconnect wire and see if light goes out. If it does replace switch.

there is a door sensor around the hinges of the door panel on the truck body. On back doors, it is somewhere behind the seat belt hooks.
