My dad is Cornish and so we had pasties on a regular basis. All I can say about them is that there is much more delicious food out there. Basically (at least the ones we had) the pasty was bits of cubed beef cooked up with potatoes and carrots and all baked up in a crusty biscuit-like dough. Ever had one of those frozen chicken pot pie dishes? Similar to those. Very bland. Maybe it was my mom's cooking.

They were the traditional pie that the cornish miners took to work. They had meat and vegetables at one end and a sweet filling at the other to provide a complete meal.

they are very popular in the UK, but actually pretty bland and flavourless

you have to rememer they were developed in a poor, rural tin mining communities, they were meant to provide cheap nourishment, not to be a party in your mouth!
