I am taking the family to WDW this summer and staying on site. I would like to purchase some snacks, drinks and baby supplies for our week long stay. I would prefer not to travel with all that stuff. Is there a grocery store in Disney? I will not have a car.

Disney does not actually have a grocery store, but they do offer some breakfast type items in their stores and even in some of their food courts. The value resort food courts tend to be the best when it comes to getting snacks and stuff like this, unless you are wanting something besides breakfast, in which case there are some better options. You could also get the refillable mugs and get coffee, soda and things like that (not sure if you will have a fridge for juice and things). The mugs are a good value, and would prevent you from having to buy drinks. You can also shop in the stores where they have snacks and things like that.

There are some services that delivery groceries, however, you would need to contact them to see if they deliver baby products and things like that, not sure exactly of what you need. Garden grocer is one I've heard a lot of good from.

There are a few grocery or convenient stores that you could walk to from Downtown Disney, but the walk is kind of long and isn't always safe, so I don't know if that is something I would suggest. Especially if you would have to take young children, the walk would be pretty long, so unless you have a cooler or something like that, I wouldn't get any cold items.

My suggestion would be to either take a taxi or a towncar. Taxis are pretty expensive, so you could probably get a roundtrip towncar transfer for less. That way you have your transportation to and from the airport as well. Most companies offer a grocery stop so you can pick things up. I took a friend one time, and his family, at the time he had a baby. Since they make a grocery stop he didn't want to have to buy diapers and things there, but he also didn't want to bring them in the suitcase and take up all the space. So, my towncar driver picked him up the diapers he uses and had them in the car for my friend when he picked us up. A good company usually will work with you like this. Anyhow, they will usually give you about 30 minutes to pick up what you need. It isn't a ton of time, but you can get quite a bit.

Also, try to bring a few things in your suitcases. Boxed snacks and things like that usually aren't too hard to pack, or you could take them out of the box and use as a filler. Pop tarts, granola bars, etc. are all good things to bring along and are easy to pack. Even if you do a towncar or taxi, it would save you time in the store so it doesn't take as long, also it should save you a little money as well.

Hope this helps

Have a great time!

Disney does not have a grocery store but there are many very close if you take a taxi there! or if your renting a car its very close, there is a publix and a goodings like 5 minutes a way. I've been going to florida for 15 yrs now (im only 22) but we've always gone to the grocery store for thing like that!!! GOod luck and have fun. ANd don't be afraid to ask at the front desk they will even give you directions and call a cab for you, Disney is very helpful!

Some of the resorts offer a small selection of grocery items in their stores but be prepared to pay more then what you normally would. Disney is great at catering to you so you can always ask someone at the resort you are staying at to see if something can be done to get your items if they dont have what you need.

However I think you would be best purchasing these items, especially the baby supplies before you go. Yes it will mean more luggage but you will be better off in the long run. You should be able to find snacks and drinks though at your resort and of course inside the park.

There are no grocery stores on site.
There are a number just off site. (piblix, walmart, albertsons, winn-dixie) Depending where on site your staying it depends on which is closest.

There are however a few gastions (Hess) on site that have your normal convience store gas station items (not the over-inflated disney prices). The disney transportation can get you close to them and then its a short walk. You could pick up you snacks and drinks there. However, again depending on where your staying (if its the boardwalk its just a 5 minute walk, if it's Port Orleans it could be 2 hours) The amount of time it will take to wait for a Disney bus.... ride it till where you need to go... get your items....wait for another bus.... take that bus back...
Plus this probably doesnt help you much with Baby Supplies.

Ask one of the workers at the Hotel your staying at or check online before hand for the nearest grocery store. Grab a cab and pick up your needed items.

Glad I remember reading about this at some of the boards. Several local markets DO deliver to Disney resorts. Also, FYI, some of the resorts have small, VERY overpriced grocery items in their shops. But it is available. I'd check these links out though.

And if it's too much, I have a few friends that live nearby and I know for a fact there are quite a few huge supermarkets just a short drive from Disney. I would bet some employee would do a run for you at the end of their shift for a good tip, but not sure if you want to take the time to ask around, wait in etc. I have a feeling the delivery will work out well;

You can arrange for them to leave groceries with bell services at any Disney Resort.

posted on a board;
Buying Groceries When You Arrive

If you won't have a car while on vacation -- or you just don't want to spend your vacation in the supermarket -- there are two ways you can get some groceries without hassles:

Pre-Order and Pick Up - The Albertson's supermarket at 12981 S. Orange Blossom Trail (Orange Blossom Trail exit from SR 417) will allow you to fax a list to them at (407) 857-0132. They will have your order packed and ready to pick up! You can call them at (407) 857-5666 for hours and details. (If you use Happy Limo to get from the airport to your hotel or condo, you can request a grocery stop on the way, and they do use this Albertson's.)

NOTE: II copied this info, but am sure most taxi's would stop. There's more info on all this in the first link following this. Back to copied info;

Delivery - Goodings, an upscale supermarket located close to Walt Disney World, allows you to order online and have the groceries delivered to most hotels and resorts in Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, International Drive, Celebration or Kissimmee. There is a $50 minimum order and a $20 handling charge.
If you will have a car (or are willing to pay for a taxi) and you'd rather do your own shopping, there are plenty of supermarket options near Walt Disney World -- click here to see more information.

Slightly different info on Goodings;
Special Delivery -- Gooding's Supermarkets (tel. 407/827-1200; www.goodings.com) offers grocery delivery service to theme-park area hotels in Lake Buena Vista, Disney, Celebration, I-Drive, and Kissimmee. There is a $50 minimum, and a $10 service charge is added to all orders. You can order groceries (but no alcohol) online up to 48 hours before your requested delivery date (delivery hours are between 9am-6pm). For details, see the website or call. This is a great service if you are staying in a hotel room with kitchen facilities, or if you have kids and want to stock your room with snacks and supplies.

This site discusses mostly onsite options;

This is the site I had in mind because it lists most of the nearby markets. Might not be a bad idea to contact them directly (or at least their web sites) and see if others offer delivery;

Hope this helps. Just love how sure some folks are when saying it's not available-sigh. At Disney long as you have a charge card EVERYTHING is available lololol

Travel with this stuff especially if you don't have a car. Disney is in an area all of itself, and they want you to buy everything right there on the fly. You could probably rent a car for the day cheaper than you could get a taxi to take you to a supermarket, shop and return. Also remember most of the hotels don't have fridges in the room. I would check this out before hand. I know the $1600 deal they have, and those rooms do not have fridges. But I have heard that you can pay for one, or if you are very brave, can tell them one of your party has diabetes and you need a fridge for the insulin. Then they give it to you for free.

What are you planning on getting? There is a Hess gas station which you can walk across from the Pleasure Island bus stop at Downtown Disney. They don't sell much but they are a little cheaper than some of the stores Disney has. ( cereal, snacks, milk...) The closest publix to Disney property is the one next to the large outlet mall on Vineland.

Maybe you could pick some things up right before you head into the park, there must be a grocery store within walking distance or by cab if you really need things.

There is a Publix somewhere in Disney but I dont know where. I think that a store delivers, but I am not sure! Call information down there and ask they will tell you all you need to know. :)

Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes.

And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you.
