What do colors mean? Why would a friend say that you should not paint a house interior yellow and red because you will end in a divorce? Is there a website that will tell me the meaning of each color?

Stimulates intellect, enhances ability to rationalize and enhances mental powers. Represents charm, confidence, vision, enthusiasm, and an easy going attitude about life. Grace, Promotes unity. Brings the power of concentration and imagination. Increases direct contact with spirits.
The color red: Increases energy levels, gives confidence and courage, brings joy, promotes sexuality and passion. A representation of of love within a relationship. A symbol of love. Career and goals, power and willpower, as well as a warning of danger.

I think some of that is superstition and some not. I don't know where you can find information on it, but I remember a study when I was in school that said the reason red was used in restaurants so much was to increase turnover. People can only stay in a red room so long. Some colors have been known to have a calming effect. But, relationships between people are based on decisions people make and the way they cope with information, their ability to share their thoughts and feelings, and be other-oriented as opposed to being self-oriented.

I think your friend was talking about feng shui.
But in my opinion you should find for yourself if you are comfortable with one color or not and how it change your mood.
