$47.00 minus 25% is equivalent to calculating (100 - 25)%, or 75%, of the price.

To calculate 75% of the price, multiply the value by 0.75.

$47.00 * 0.75 = $35.25

100% - 25% = 75%
calcuating a price with a 25% discount is the same as calculating 75% or 3/4 of the original price.

47 * 3/4 = 35.25

therefore, after taking a 25% discount, $47.00 is reduced to $35.25

you take 47.00 times .25 to figure out what percent the discount would be.
or how i do it is 47 tx .75 since that would be the remaining number minus the discount so for purchasing an item at $47.00 at 25% off the total would be 35.25 which means you saved $11.75

Find the amount when the base and percent are known

convert 25% to decimal

Remove the % symbol. Divide 25 by 100

25 / 100 = 0.25

Multiply 47.00 times the decimal

47.00 x 0.25 = 11.75

The amount of discount is $ 11.75

Subtract 11.75 from 47.00 to get the price after the discount

47.00 - 11.75 = 35.25
