How they make a living, are there non-Mormons living with them, etc. I want to retire there and I figure they might make good neighbors?

Yes they will make good neighbors. The Mormons have very strong family values. Just like any religious group they tend to socialize among themselves with other Mormons. After all they share the same beliefs. So you won't exactly be welcomed with open arms but it is unlikely that you would be ostracized unless you have some bad habits. The Mormons live in several towns in Chihuahua...some are quite small little farming villages. My favorite is the farming town of Colonia Juarez which is located a few miles from Nuevo Casas Grandes. Very picturesque community with an excellent school. Only a few Mexicans live there. The larger city, Nuevo Casas Grandes has a larger share of Mexicans. Go visit before you move. You will find life there quite different than the U.S.
