Patriotic Conservatives would have never gotten us involved in this affair. Patriotic Conservatives follow the Constitution. We don't attack a nation that hasn't attacked us first. And even then, not without a Declaration of War.
Our current problem was created by intolerant people, like you (who just happen to hate Muslims), and the Neo-Cons who believe in entanglement in foreign, un-declared wars, and serving the UN.
Can you imagine any of this taking place if Pat Buchanan had been elected president? We never would have been attacked on 11 September, because we would not be involved in other people's wars.
Calling the current administration conservative, or for that matter, Christian, is a real stretch. By the same token, comparing the terrorists in the Middle East to all Muslims is totally inaccurate.
Patriotism is adherence to the Constitution, not the Neo-Con obsession with the New World Order.

wow, how lost you are... Most of us SUPPORT THE ACTIONS IN AFGHANISTAN! There weren't many, if any, terrorists in Iraq until we messed it up.. and even now it's mostly insurgents that would go away if we did.. and where is Bin Ladin? We are all for going after him!! And WE built up Iraq to balance out Iran.. any wonder why Iran is going crazy right now?? it's because WE just took away the balance of power in the region.. and another thing.. the survival of the free world is not at stake due to RADICAL Islam (most Muslims are NOT radical... if they were we'd have about 3 billion terrorists out there) the only threat to the free world is that of WW III sparking from all of this BS.... A TRUE patriot isn't someone who tried to bring half the nation down with their statements.. as you are doing.. so why not go talk to a soldier who puts their life on the line whether they agree with the cause or not.. or someone who is either supporting or not supporting the war.. either way.. WITHOUT attacking people for disagreeing.. and I mean someone who is really trying to support their cause.. really getting out there... they will be a lot closer to a true patriot than you are.

For some, what you describe is simply an error in observation. They just are not able to see things as clearly as one might hope. In every group of people, you will find those that can observe and see consequences and others that simply think they see but aren't really observing the reality, they are observing merely their own pre-judgments of what reality should be.
For some, this is an ideological matter. The issues facing us with regard to islamic fascism simple do not justify the use of force, even when it is demonstrably called for. Ideology replaces accurate observation.
For some, and I believe this to be the smallest groups but one that has tremendous influence on the opinions of many, the issue has nothing whatsoever to do with our conflict with islamic fascism any more than it did with communism, though both were very real threats to our country and the freedom and liberty of every citizen in America. For these, it is a matter of gradiently instilling more and more socialistic principles into our society, laws and government over the long haul. Therefore, regardless of the threat or the conflict, they are opposed to anyone or anything that supports taking necessary action to defend our country just on the principle that they are for freedom and liberty as these two concepts are their major obstical to overtaking our country and imposing their suppressive socialistic philosophy on America.
The real test and the real challenge is to identify those in the last category and to attack them for who they really are, with the hope that they can be removed from their positions of power and influence.
They can think and believe what they want, but I consider them to be the biggest threat to our way of life that exists now and has for the last 80 or so years.
We need options in the form of true third and fourth political parties that actually exert some positive impact on our political landscape. Only then will the existing two parties begin to start dealing with our real issues with honesty and more respect for what the majority of people really believe in this country.

LMAO. What did George Bush do to Protected me? Is taking away my rights protecting me? How about reading my e-mail, or knowing what books I read from a library?
Newsflash for you. The ones that are protecting you are the young kids over in Afghanistan. The ones protecting you are the kids in Iraq, sent there on a lie, and the ones that have given everything to protect you are coming home in pieces and George Bush does not have the decency to make sure they are being cared for properly. I owe Bush nothing. I own those kids everything.

If you TRULY want to know the answer to your question, read "Illiberal Democracy" by Fareed Zakaria.
This book isn't about Iraq or Islam specifically, but it does show you WHY we cannot democratize the middle east..... at least not by our current method. Perhaps your wish isn't a peaceful middle east, but instead, you are too far gone and wish to see the region wiped off the face of the map......search your feelings my friend.
People are not by nature hateful, but when you couple religion with poverty and rampant unemployment, HATE is exactly what you get.
Perhaps what we should do, is just leave them alone..... believe me, they have enough internal problems to keep them busy for quite some time............as do we!!!!

It's the crazy nuts that are getting your attention polluting your perception of Islam. We should overthrow those in charge over there people; the people who are peaceful do not have a voice. So for liberals to see the truth they too need their head out their *** like every other overzealous Conservative. It is important to question the things you love so when you see it for what it REALLY is then you can love it with all your heart. Blind faith can lead you into trouble.

If America and its allies (which sadly includes my own country) got out of Afghanistan and Iraq and turned the other cheek to Iran then there would BE NO conflict with Islam
only when the western nations stop trying to police the world will there truly be peace

They'll have to wait until there Sons and Daughters are raped and pilliaged by extremist Muslims (NOT Koran thumping NORMAL Muslims- Don't turn this statement into an anti muslim one). They will turn around once those Sons and Daughters ask them "what the F**K where you thinking?". History shows us that once our children are impacted by our mistakes we then tend to react. Generally by then it is too late.
-- Oh and by the way English Guy has no clue about the history of IRAN - There issues of bombing planes and taking hostages began LONG before the US started "policing".

I could just as simply argue that the global war on terror is a post-cold war foreign policy that bases its rationale and ideology on the cold war, wherein there were two great superpowers with one being the clear enemy (in this case Al-Qeada). However, terror does not emanate from one single nation-state and it should not be fought like it is. Terror is a definite threat, no one is denying that, however it is the methodology behind the policy that is at question.
