The sun is the largest influence on climate change. Several scientists (such as Dr. Hall in Canada) have shown that when you factor the sun into all of the current climate change models, every other influences becomes insignificant. Evidence? Try the changes in average global temperate for the past 55 million years. 55 million years ago (mya) the average global temperature was close to 27 degrees centigrade (today the avg global temperature is around 15 degrees centigrade). The fossil record shows that, at 55 mya, palm-like trees and crocdiles lived north of the arctic circle. The average global temperatures fluctuated but overall cooled since then to a low of about 10 degrees centigrade 11 mya. It has been warming again since then. Humans did not cause these drastic changes. I believe the sun in the main cause.

Yes it's a climate change. Recall that we're still coming out of an ice age. There are glaciers all over the world plus in the last 40 years, the suns output has gone up .2% and Mars and Pluto are also heating up. Here's an article from 2003 that everyone tends to ignore. No doubt we're part of the problem but just how much is open for debate.

Scientists have concluded that human activities are contributing to global warming by adding large amounts of heat-trapping gases to the atmosphere. Our fossil fuel use is the main source of these gases. Every time we drive a car, use electricity from coal-fired power plants, or heat our homes with oil or natural gas, we release carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases into the air. The second most important source of greenhouse gases is deforestation, mainly in the tropics, and other land-use changes.
Since pre-industrial times, the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide has increased by 31 percent. Over the same period, atmospheric methane has risen by 151 percent, mostly from agricultural activities like growing rice and raising cattle.
As the concentration of these gases grows, more heat is trapped by the atmosphere and less escapes back into space. This increase in trapped heat changes the climate, causing altered weather patterns that can bring unusually intense precipitation or dry spells and more severe storms.

Its all our life style which results the rise of global, warming. Its just to console ourselves that the climate itself getting warmer and its not our responsibility. It is just like a child who covers his eyes and think that the world cannot see him. but actually everyone can see him except him. Thus the only cause of global warming is our life style. If we change it we will in a situation to control the global warming. Rest this is just a thought who is careful for it. everyone today is materialist. So hope the day will come when we will be ready to change ours life style to save mother Earth.

Historically our planet goes through is climactic cycles. The issue is not that it will change, the issue is now how fast. Normally it took 50,000 years for our planet to go from Ice age to Ice age. This allowed things to evolve. If our green house gasses speed this up, what are the consequences ?

I really think that its Deforestation. With Urban Sprawl, were cutting down all the trees and have created a huge imbalance. This is just not here in America, if you look at comparison maps worldwide with the difference in sprawl from even just 10 years ago there is a huge difference. Were trashing the planet so that we can have a walmart on every corner.

Pretty much. Gases, and even pollution of material helps the pollution. And because of all this pollution, there is a hole in the ozone layer, letting more heat in. If you want to find out more info, go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming
or http://www.climatecrisis.net/ where you can find the movie "An Inconvienient Truth" which is an extroardinary movie about global warming.

I'm a strong believer that people are causing global warming, I don't think it's a natural process, and frankly: why risk it? I say lets get rid of all the cars a.s.a.p! the earth is not a gift from our parents it's a loan from our children!
