I have used this method on many chairs successfully many times. Each joint that is loose needs glue to make it solid again. To do this, drill a 1/8" hole paralel with the peice that goes into the corresponding hole. Just go as deep as you think the peg is, not all the way thru. Into each hole insert a small amount of water. About 10 - 15 drops. Use Gorilla Glue, available at most hardware or lumber yards, and drip about 5 - 10 drops into each hole. The glue is extremely thick, so use a toothpick to help the glue into the hole. Once the glue is inserted, use a 1/8" dowel and insert it into the hole. Tap it to the bottom of the hole, then cut the dowel flush with the surface. This accomplishes 2 things. It fills the hole and acts as a shear pin in the joint. Secondly, it makes the glue spread around the joint without seeping back out the hole. This glue reacts with moisture and expands to completely fill the joint. Chair should be usable after 24 hours. Always use eye protection, and wear disposable gloves when handling glue. A magic marker spot on the end of each dowel will hide them from view. I use masking tape around each joint to help keep excess glue from the surface. Good luck.

If it squeaks where two wood joints come together, you will need to either undo the joint and reglue it or predrill a hole that intersects the two surfaces and put in a wooden dowel or screw. Squeaks at wooden joints mean that the joint has failed. You now have two pieces of wood rubbing together and they will soon seperate, possibly hurting someone.
