you threw out a computer because of viruses and spyware? are you joking?

All you had to do was reformat the hard drive. viruses and spyware do not live on the computer, just on the hard drive. The ram that came out of the old machine is not infected. It never was and never can be. Your old RAM more than likely is not going to be compatible with your new motherboard.

Your old machine was fine, a 1 hour reformat of the hard drive and all your viruses and spyware would have been gone.

Don't get RAM and a Hard Drive confused. Anything in RAM is erased when you turn your computer off. You can transfer this RAM to another computer without any problems (assuming the ram is compatible in your other system.)

If you are transfering a hard drive I would definately be concerned unless of course you have re-formatted it.

Should not have done that or you could have given me what you threw away.

Virus, malwares, trojans, etc. infect and damage SOFTWARES but NOT hardware. Reformatting the hard drive wipes it clean of data, virus and everything. Virus that goes into RAM gets "killed" everytime you shutoff your PC. It only gets loaded back if it resides in the hard drive.

No ram cannot carry virus' or anythings else - once it's power source has been removed / switched off it loses the contents of it's memory

By cpu do you mean base unit ? - similarly to ram a cpu cannot carry virus' -

Your actions are a bit extreme to say the leas - any virus' would be on the harddrive and this can be reformatted - wiping it clean

You can use the same ram. Viruses and spyware don't infect the RAM, they infect the hard disk. RAM is for the PC speed.

No, there is nothing stored on them. Ram is volatile, when the power is disconnected, they lose all memory data.
