if someone i knew was racist and it bothered me i would just tell them i don't share their view point so not to bring it around me. they can do whatever the want and have a right to an opinion but i also have a right not to agree with it. i am not religious and i am white so i have not had to deal with much racism or discrimination but i know some people that are very offended by it. my friend for example has mixed people in his family and gets very offended by ethnic slurs. he has told all of us we can say whatever we want just not around him. you can't really change people's views but you can change how they act around you. everyone is intitled to their own views and opinions so it's hard to tell them to stop.

I don't consider nasty comments about religion to be 'racist' but I understand what you are saying. When people insult me, I usually say something nasty back but I don't sink as low as them and attack them personally (about their race, culture, religion, weight, etc..). I usually just curse someone out and call them an idiot or an a**hole. I rarely come across anyone that insults me enough to even bother to reply though. Usually it's a stranger and it's sexual harassment, not 'racism' or any other type of insult. Then I just tell the guy to "f*** off" if I even say anything at all.

As for 'how far would I go', that depends on how far they go. If someone physically attacked me, I'd defend myself but I'm smart enough not to throw the first punch. I try to practice the 'art' of walking away from jerks. If they try to insult me by saying something which is actually incorrect, then I will correct them THEN call them an idiot and walk away.

Most racism stems from either ignorance or fear.
Rather than just beating on the person who made the comments - it would be better to get to the heart of the problem and solve it.
Of course this pre-supposes that this person is at all rational. I believe Imus is a rational, though sometimes despicable man who could be reasoned with.
But if you are up against someone who is lynching people or burning churches, or killing civil rights workers, you are dealing with a sociopath/psychopath who may need to be handled in a different way.

I'm racist, I like the Preakness, Belmont Stakes and the Kentucky Derby, however I'm not an Indy 500 fan, nor do I like NASCAR. If a person is racist, and you don't want them to be, don't take them to any races. See how simple that is?

Pray to the Almighty, for wisdom to prevail upon the alleged 'Racist' and to make a convincing appeal to the latter for a betterment in his outlook.

Hey Miss Ravishing....if u r thinking of beating me up...I don't mind as long as you "beat" me in the right places!!!

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

Nah, just kidding...if someone is racist to you, you should defend yourself and your religion/culture and put the person bak in their place but you should do it in a way which doesn't compromise your class and dignity. At the end of the day, you have to show racists that you are a much bigger person than they are and that they are not important enough for you to compromise your standing, culture and self respect.

Just accept that there will always be people who think and feel that way. Be patient if you can, or just avoid them. Perhaps they'll change. Or perhaps one day you'll see them in a crosswalk as you're speeding toward them. Either way...
