Conservators have agendas. They feel that they know better then most and that they have beliefs that align with the dogma of Christianity.
They act as if they care for the fetus but ask them about the homeless or the down trodden of the world and you will hear that they had a chance and blew it. never taking into account that a good number of them were in good shape at one time and that because of things that happen in life that they have found themselves in situations that they are in now . Nothing is permeate for most and they will move away from it but in a Conservatives eyes they are scum and don't look because you may catch something..Self Reliance is everything to Conservatives which if you read the dictionary means non-social which means that at all cost do not ever let people know what your situation is if you are down and out keep up the facade. They are mostly dis-honest about them selves and will protect their face at all costs never show your ***.. Liberals have always looked to the education system the heatlthcare system the folks that need a hand to the people that need a leg up. You were probable educated by a liberal your doctor is probably a Democrat. You hard line guys are bad news because you say that liberals don't stand and fight . Ha the libs fought hard for civil rights marched when it was unpopular about the war and died for the country in wars. Dont ever get it wrong because you think we are weak but come to my house and start up and you will see who is the weak one. We are all people conservitives and Liberals alike and have the same wants and needs but that is where it stops. Sp prreach your doctrine about the war and how right it is and side with a president that looses not one nights sleep over the 3000 Marines that have died you go and then really find out what gods words really mean instead of making up your own and listening to a dishonest war machins as this one.

Being programmed as we are for tribal life, we are forced to visualise large societies as families- this is in fact the only way we can think about them in the abstract.
And we all have two 'programs' for the ideal family: the 'strict father' model, and the 'nurturant parent' model. These models correspond to conservatism and liberalism, respectively. In fact we all hold a mix of views to some extent, but favouring one or the other is what makes us conservatives or liberals.
The strict father model requires severe punishment to teach the child (the individual) right from wrong. The child has no morality- it must be taught in this way. Then the child becomes self-sufficient, responsible, productive. But this can only be learnt through harsh consequences for bad behaviour/choices- to reduce these harsh consequences is to mess with the system and produce delinquents. Hence, the chick who gets herself knocked-up must suffer the consequences of that decision.
The other major reason is, of course, that the wealthy ALWAYS have access to abortion. So when we talk about 'legal' abortion or 'access to abortion' we are only ever talking about choices for the poor. And the poor can get stuffed, of course.

I think you're wrong. Conservatives care even after
the fetus/baby is born but if you don't fight for the baby's
right to live, then there for sure is no care afterward. Guess
that's why the pro -death females get rid of their own because
they don't want to have to care for them afterwards. The pro-
life gals indeed do take care of their babies after birth. I
see them all the time showing off their offspring and taking
pictures. And they also are the ones who adopt the poor
unwanted little darlings. SEE?

I believe I understand your point. Many people fight for these children's rights to live but after they are born that is it. They go in foster care. They fight for the child's life so why not give them a good one. There are many that are against abortions and do adopt/foster (sick and healthy kids) and I commend them for that even though I do not agree with their viewpoint. They are at least trying to make a difference. Others just protest abortion and that is it. They do not reach out to a child.

Going back to the 70's play book again? Conservatives care about all people, born and unborn. It is just the definition of caring that confuses you. We take it to mean, give opportunity to all through rule of law and Representative government. Care enough for people to realize that they can best be trusted to make decisions for themselves not be dictated to by government. Leave money in the hands of those who have earned it. Understand what makes America special and try to bring those qualities to less fortunate parts of the world. All of which is better than the out of date 19th century quest for social justice that if achieved would simply spread the misery and diminish us all

Do conservatives oppose laws against murder, rape or child molestation? Because from my experience, they're much harsher on those sorts of crimes than the left.
You aren't making a very good point. Pro-life conservatives are trying to protect fetuses--human beings deserving of human rights, like the right to life--from being murdered. They aren't offering fetuses welfare or something. This is perfectly consistent with their other arguments.
Conservatives are just extending their very "law and order" viewpoint about murder to fetuses. Why's that so hard to understand?
P.S. I'm a woman, I'm pro-life, I'm agnostic, and I don't vote Republican, so would you all stop with the stereotyping about people who are pro-life. We're not all Bible Belt Christians who love Bush and are hellbent on controlling women's bodies.

As usual, you give no examples of what you speak of by "being on your own". To a Liberal anything short of complete government dominion over every facet of our lives is intolerable. But do we need "Big Brother" to make sure we are all taken care of from cradle to grave, handing over our paycheck to people who say they know better than we?
I for one, say no.
Why is it that under Liberalism we see pedophiles being defended by the ACLU, and the old and feeble being thought of as disposable? Why do we see religious thought being subverted, unless it is a religion such as Islam that they fear?
Why do we see women treated as sexual objects and internet pornography being lauded by Liberals as "Feminism"? Are the women making the money?
Why do they want a school system that currently produces some of the most ineffective students to be without standardized tests, yet want constant increases in educational spending? Why is it that Liberals say it is racist to criticize illegals who come here with full or greater rights than the American people, while their own union supporters lose their jobs?
It seems that being "on your own" is preferrable to Liberalism if you ask me.
