Laws regarding this vary. Some cities say 5 or 6, even 8 o'clock. If you are in a more rural setting 10 o'clock is the limit.
Contact your local building department or sheriff to find out for sure.

LOL, if he is in the house proabably until all hours. Most towns have a noise "law" that says after 11pm excessive noise is a public nusaince, however unless it's excessive to the point of everyone around being upset I think you may have a hardtime getting cops to come out. have you tried talking to him?

It shouldn't be any later than a normal work day, which would be 5 or 6 pm. Every city or town has a noise code. You can go or call city hall and find out.

Call the city, if it's a contractor you'll be told (eight where I live). If it's the owner your pretty much out of luck! (Eleven here)

In England most contractors finnish work around five o`clock,but I think legally its eight.

They can bang all night but its not very neighbourly. If the noise is excessive you can complain to your council and they have to investigate
