i was out at the weekend and glass went straight into the top of my foot because i was in a bar. and before you ask yes i did have my shoes on! ive never has stitches before and i get my stitches taken out on friday. im scared incase it hurts. anyone out there had stitches who knows whether it hurts or not? my brother had them in his eye and he said it really hurt but he was laughing so i think hes just trying to scare me!

If the skin is really dry, removing the stitches will hurt a little, yes, perhaps enough to make your eyes water but it is only for a second or so and really nothing to be afraid of.
Thursday night, you may want to apply some Neosporin liberally over the stitches and bath it off before seeing the doctor. That will soften the skin a little for it to be more flexible and less painful.
Don't worry tho, you will be fine. It only takes a momment and then it's behind you...

Nahhhh, it usually doesn't hurt at all! You might feel a bit of tugging, if that, and a bit of itching. If you are squeemish, then look away while they're doing it. It might help if you talk to somebody while you're looking away, to take your mind off what they're doing. It should be over in a few seconds.
It's a good thing you had shoes on, or you might not have been getting the stitches out this soon!

No, it doesnt hurt! If feels like if you were to take a piece of string and pull it gently between 2 fingers. You can feel it, but it doesnt hurt. Sometimes the scab will crust over the stitches, and that just feels like it does when a scab comes off. Nothing like when the stitches went in.

No, not at all. It is painless. All they do is use a tiny scissor and clip the stitches. Piece of Cake. I had stitches removed from my Groin 3 times, and again from my Breast! Trust me, you'll be fine.

To be honest with you, it doesn't really hurt- but it is bothersome. It will make you flinch. I would relate it getting a shot per stitch taken out.
What I did is focus on something that calms me and continue telling myself I can tolerate this with the help of my "security focus."
Good luck!! You may even want to have a glass of wine before you to calm your nerves a bit.

It really depends. For most people they don't hurt but every once in a while some people do have some pain. It's kind of like a shot. Some people think it hurts but it's only for a short while. I would definitely not worry about it though. Let your doctor know you are worried about pain. S/he may have a numbing rub that s/he can put on it before.

No, I had stitches when I was about 16 and took them out myself. Not the wisest idea but I was 16 and they were itchy as sin.

not a worry, usually doctor will remove the stitches when the wound it dry. Some stitches do not have to remove, it dissolve it self.

Yes. The cut will have healed around the stitches somewhat. Pulling them out will hurt, but not as bad as you think.
