I don't think I could be considered a history genius, (I've been referred to as a a geni-a ss by many) but I can give you my own opinion on the subject.

History is simply a record of things that have taken place in the past, based on the viewpoints of those who relate to those incidents. Some records have physical properties, (evidence) to support them, some historical records are written and some history is based on legends and/or myths that have been passed down through the centuries. So with that in mind here goes......

As man becomes more educated and more enlightened, he has also become a more "thinking" human. The one major factor of nearly all organized religion are the penalties prescribed for being a free thinker. (Called a heretic, which comes from the Greek word "hereisis" which means to think for oneself.) Most times the person or people who don't accept the idea of what the religious doctrine offers as an explanation for events are labeled "in league with the devil" or "non-believers" (infidels) and put to death.

Being free thinkers men began to question the practice of killing people in the name of heresy, or because of what history and education clearly shows to be superstitious reasoning. For example hundreds of thousands were killed under the orders of religious leaders during the middle ages, being blamed for creating the black plague, (Yesenia pestis) when in reality the millions who were dying as a result of that disease, had been bitten by fleas that were vectors to the bacterium that invades the blood-cells of the host victim.

Another example of what modern man has come to view as irrational behavior on the part of organized religion, is the contradictions of the fundamental principals of those religions by the leaders of those institutions. For example nearly all religions promote their doctrine as being one of peace and harmony. Yet they call their followers together to take up arms and destroy millions who do not follow their beliefs. Also the rules of most religions do not allow the killing of another being by an individual, but the faithful are told that it is OK to kill for their country.

Modernity is nothing more than the current views of the masses based on what is known to be factual as evidenced by achievements and/or discoveries that have been made.

For example for hundreds of years the masses were told that the world was flat, that the sun moved across the sky, that Gods sat on top of certain mountains, or that huge creatures such as those who were referred to as "Titans" lived in the Oceans and caused tidal waves (tsunamis). Modern man now knows these things to be caused by other things and science has disproved the old religious explanations for these things.

As far as art goes, it's hard for any serious artist of today to be taken serious if he/she depicts paintings of winged cherubs flying around and protecting people.

I hope this gives you some insight to the answers you are seeking.

you're actually not the 1st to experience like this - Henry Ford stated plenty the comparable component. modern-day historic previous is quite significant in awareness why issues have surpassed off. The historical past marketplace is quite significant economically and culturally in some factors of the international - awareness what desires to be preserved demands a ideal awareness of historic previous. The business enterprise approximately repeating historic previous's blunders is somewhat specious - the international is continually changing so the liklehood of the comparable set of circumstances occuring is distant.

A couple examples ...
Abortion was not always seen as a good thing, Susan B. Anthony, one of the major feminists of our country, said it was a terrible thing, now every feminist supports it.
Religion is afraid to say that someone is going to hell. It is afraid to say that God actually punishes people.
