Gene Kelly... without any doubt whatsoever. Have you seen the last 20 minutes of 'An American in Paris'? just amazing. It was made 50 years ago and still looks like it was made yesterday. It's just mind blowing. You'll also see a lot of Michael Jackson in it (Gene Kelly was wearing the white socks and slip ons long before Michael Jackson did). Gene Kelly was a very big influence on Michael Jackson (watch An American in Paris and you'll find yourself saying over and over again...'Michael Jackson does that'!).... that's not to say that Michael Jackson isn't extremely good! Fred Astaire was great... but not in the same league as those two. There was nothing 'sexy' about Fred!!!!!! Gene Kelly is the 'original' and set the bench mark for others to follow.

It's difficult to make a choice between Astaire and Kelly.
Fred Astaire was the epitome of charm and elegance in his dancing. His moves were so fluid and graceful.
Gene Kelly was suave and athletic, although he could put on the smooth moves when dancing with female partners. But his strong point was his creativity and precision. Just watch the precision of the moves when he partners with Donald O'Connor (another excellent dancer - although more known for his comedy) in Singing In the Rain ("Good Morning" and "Moses Supposes").
I like them both, but I would have to say Gene Kelly wins by a toe!!

Fred Astair had the longest career as a dancer. But the most memorable has to Gene Kelly : 'I'm just walking and singing in the rain, dah de dah dah dah, dah de dah dah dah.'

i like them all, its hard to compare them to be fair because they all had their different styles of dancing. I think fred astaire had a certain airy charm and gene kelly had a certain style and michael jackson had an originality.
they're all great, why compare?

Lets start with - Can anyone in this country spell Michael? It is not Micheal. Think of it as Michael is not a heal.
