punks were seen as the anti social individuals of the '70s now everyone wants to be one maybe all the old people in the future will be wearing hoodies to keep themselves warm.

The way someone dresses can connect them to a like minded group or religion but I believe that the reason we dress as we do is to make ourselves either fit in or stand out if we all wore hoodies then the problem of the 'hoodie' would be eliminated regarding the fear of the clothing but you can't remove their ideas or beliefs

Remember the good old suit of saville row was indeed the chosen clothing of the notorious east end gangsters Ron and Reg Kray

If they had worn a hoodie you Might have seen them coming

I don't ever remember punks hanging around in gangs of twenty plus, terrorising anyone that happens to pass them by. These scum should be culled, this isn't a fashion its inbred, these are the most selfish type of human being ever to walk the earth. Around here they spend their time drinking and taking drugs in full view of every one before vandalising cars, fence panels, bus shelters and blasting out music from car stereos outside old peoples homes in the early hours of the morning. I have had bottles and stones thrown at my house, kids jumping on my car and my fence panels vandalised. They have been sick on my drive and have used my garden as a toilet on many occasions and this is not Manchester or Birmingham I live in, it's a village in Wiltshire.
The hoods are not a fashion but a way for kids to commit crime without any chance of being recognised. Punks, teddy boys, mods and rockers used to fight amongst themselves, they didn't target the weakest people in our society.

The media are simply generating a moral dilema. They are blaming the youth, who generally behave exactly the same whatever they wear, for whatever they want to blame them for; crime, deviance, harassment whatever. It's simply something to tell us about, to fill the papers and tv stories with. There is absolutely no significance to people wearing hoods, other than the majority of the population thinking that they look absolutely stupid. Before hoods we've had punks, mods, rockers, goths(?) and whatever else. It's simply a fashion thing that young people will grow out of very quickly. In a years time the kids will be saying, 'hoods they're so yesterday' The media is simply filling its pages with meaningless rubbish, as the media usually does.

Well you can go back into history to justify rebellious behaviour, Punks, Rockers, Mods and Teddy boys!
So what is the difference between Hoodies and those before them?
ALL the others did NOT terrorise old people, smash and burn cars, trash private property for fun, and they were not spineless scum!
You may guess I am NOT a fan of Hoodies!

Maybe 15+ years ago. I thought it was pretty mainstream by now!
