South African Minister of Environmental Afairs, Marthinus Van Schalkwyk, says this is the last resort to "control this growing headache". What's your take on this?

I agree because if we don't cull them then the parks will be destroyed which would be an even bigger disaster.
So we either lose a couple or we lose all of them.
They will not shoot the young ones they will shoot the elders and sickles if that make you feel better.

I can see that a growing population of the elephant can cause a headache. I love elephants they are my favorite but what one should keep in mind when you look at the elephant is that they are big and they destroy everything in their path.
For any reserve who considers to put elephants on their reserve has to have an x amount of land for a certain amount of elephant or they should have enough trees etc for the elephants.
The environment in the Kruger national Park cant take the elephants any more and it is to expensive to locate the elephant somewhere else

If it is used to control the amount of elephants so they do less damage to nature i agree and they will select the old and sick animals to start with

I am quite sure that no one is planning to kill off the entire population of elephants in South Africa. Just take it back to sustainable levels.

HEY,PORGIE I RECKON U SHOULD GIVE IT TO INNOCENT.HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD.TOO MANY WASTES OF OXYGEN ON THE PLANET,LETS CULL HUMANS,USELESS EATERS & THEM WHO ARE GENERALLY A WASTE OF HABITAT AND PUT ZERO INTO THE FURTHERANCE OF SOCIAL STRUCTURES.A GOOD WAY TO START ,WOULD BE TO CHOP UP PRISONERS AND FEED THE THE SHARKS.I AGREE WITH CULLING AS I AM A FIELD GUIDE WITH SK3.HOWEVER ITS THE POPULATION OF SO CALLED HUMANOIDS THAT NEED TAKING OUT.SAY PLUS MINUS 3 BILLION,SHOULD BE EFFECTIVE AND THEN INSTILL A 2 KIDS MAX LAW.

I think its horrendous...
I dont know their full reason... but I still think its a ridiculous idea...
What, are they going to start doing the same with the growing human population...?
