Knowing the external forces can help you in planning. Things that can affect your business like strong competition, laws, poor labor force, environmental hazzards, government intervention, international activities or affairs, your own product or service. As an example - let's say you work in the adult film industry: There are laws regarding where you can sell the films, laws about how and when to test the actors/ actresses, health risks, laws about where you can film, looking at the actors/ actresses - they have to meet certain looks, you have strong competition every where, different laws in different lands. These factors will help you in determining policies to be followed now and plan for future expansion and policies.
