I am not a Psychology major, but I have taken a few elective psychology courses and I have enjoyed them a lot.
It shows you the reason people react or behave in a certain way, and then you start seeing why family members or friends act a certain way, and why you behave the way you do.
It has been fun taking those courses. Of course these are the 200 level courses and the 300 and higher classes could be a lot harder. But I am sure it would be as interesting, if not more than the beginning psychology courses that I have taken.

Psychology is a pretty diverse area. There are a range of differences between universities.
The main division is Psychology through Arts and Science. Some places put more empasis on different things. So you need to think about your career options.
Much of it is reading and learning theory. Practicals include behavioural psychology (you get to train a rat), survey design and possibly a chance to do some work experience (but this is fairly rare).
It should be a fairly diverse course and you will learn a lot of interesting things.

Im studying forensic psychology at uni in england. Its a good course with some interesting hands on seminars. but the bulk of it is theory based lectures, which can get a little boring if its not specific to your interests. other than that, im really enjoying my course.

Lower level psychology courses were fun for me. It explained how people think, what kind of mental disorders they have, and gives a broad view of society.
