No, not the second, but my prediction all along is for the VIkings to select Troy Smith in the fifth. He fits well with their needs(QB), since Tavaris JAckson obvoiusly is not a franchise quarterback. They realize that they at least need a solid backup, just to force JAckson to prove himself.
I wouldn't want my team (JAguars) to get him becuase we need some clarity on who are QB is. Right now we have Byron LEftwhich and David Garrard. Both could start, but if we add Troy Smith to the mix it would just confuse the QB competition even more.

Yeah, it's odd that height and one college game made a guy fall from potential top 20 pick to MAYBE first 6 ROUNDS pick... He did bad against Florida was a big problem with Troy Smith. If he can't compete against the Florida defense, NFL defenses might kill him. There is no doubt, Troy Smith has a lot of potential if he can compensate for his height like Drew Brees can. I think he's a viable starter if McNair gets hurt and maybe after he retires. I think that for a 5th round...almost 6th round pick, he was a steal at that point for a back up QB. He also didn't work out at the combine...that tells something about his work ethic if you ask me. A guy that really wants to play in the NFL and show everyone what he can do would participate. He did do a few drills, but that's just dumb, why not go all out and try getting drafted sooner, make some money and save a little respect.

Troy Smith has the dubious Heisman QB curse. He'll probably go somewhere early in day two, round 4 or 5. I would not want the Saints to get him, because of the failures of past Heisman Trophy winning QB's - Eric Crouch, Andre Ware, Gino Torretta, Jason White, Danny Wuerffel (former Saint) We need a young QB who will be a capable fill in starter until Brees retires, and when he does, then this QB will be our starter. I don't see that in Troy Smith.
With the Vikings question, they reached in the 2nd round for Alabama State QB Travarus Jackson, who is talented, but they could have gotten him in the 3rd or 4th round. They wont reach again, but you never know because there's always a surprise.

Troy Smith could end up in a place like Oakland with the #65 overall selection or even the #99. Another team that may go after him who has several first day picks is Miami with the #60, #71, or #108. I have a hunch that Smith is going to push hard to continue on as a QB in the NFL. Almost an afterthought at this point, he could end up being the biggest steal of the draft in rds 3 or 4.

Troy Smith will go mid 2nd round. Not sure which team will take a chance on him, but due to his size he'll probably be turned into a WR.
Yes, I'm a Bengals fan and I'd love to see us take Troy Smith and make him a #3 (slot) reciever. It would give our offense more options in the passing and running game as well as fill a big hole left by the suspension of the convict Chris Henry.

3rd-4th round. A lot of teams could use a backup player willing to learn a system and be ready to step it up when your starter comes out. I'd say the Steelers, the Jets, or maybe even the Lions, even if they pick Brady Quinn. Quinn is inconsistent, and Smith could motivate him to get better and earn the starting job. But I dont't see him going until the 3rd round at least. He just doesn't have a great arm, and isn't very tall. Ran a 4.7-4.8.

My guess is someone's going to take a chance on him in the 3rd round. And that someone's going to be very happy in 4-5 years. The primary things working against Smith is that he's a couple inches too short, he didn't have great combine workouts, and his worst game at the college level also happened to be his last game. But in terms of size, talent, leadership, ability to play in cold weather, and overall skills, he reminds me an awful lot of Drew Brees, who wasn't snapped up in the first round either and who didn't do squat for his first 3 years or so but who wound up being rather good. The question is whether he can put the immense effort in to get there; something Smith showed he's willing to do while in college but not at the combines.

Personally I say he'll be cursed by the Heisman jinx & not get drafted until the second day in the 5th or 6th round & on top of all that, he'll probably get bounced out in the first wave of cuts in preseason. My favorite team is the Giants, hell no wouldn't want him on my team unless he switched positions from QB to something else.

troy smith will not go before the 3rd round and may fall to the 4th. he is small and hasn't impressed at the combine. winning the heisman means nothing with how well you can perform in the NFL.

Watching a mock draft yesterday on ESPN, he is actually projected to go the in the 5th round. I was surprised to hear that I figured he would go in at least the second or third round but evidentlly his stock dropped from the scouting combine,
