My husband & I were raised in the 60's & 70's and we are raising our children the same way.We have dinner together every night at 5:30p.m. and we take family vacations every summer. We do just about everything together as a family.I think if more people kept the family morals and values like the old day's we would live in a happier world. My kid's also have ot come inside when the street light's come on(remember that)LOL...But in answer to your question I think for a majority of families these day's it has become a thing of the past I think that there are a very limited amount of families today that live up to the family standards of the past.I come from a family of 7 brothers & sisters and we were a very tight knit family and all my brothers & sisters are raising thier children like mom & dad raised us.When their was a problem my parents alway's worked thing's out and if more families took the time there would not be so much divorce and broken families today.Families today give up to easily.Good Luck & Best Wishes to you.

Oh yeah-families still take vacations together, just like way back when. And-there are still families that sit down together at dinner, maybe not every night, but at least 4 times a week. Maybe people just dont talk about it or advertise it. We get a lot of our ideas from the media and they would have you believe everyone is like Paris Hilton or Tom Cruise. Have faith-families are not a thing of the past.

Hi.. when i was growing up my family only went on one small holiday during my whole childhood. Now i am a mother of four i take my husband and four children to that same place every couple of years. Its nothing flash and only costs me about $200au for 2 weeks accommodation. We all have a great time and spend stacks of time together.. also every few years we do something a bit more costly like the theme parks in queensland, australia.. the main thing is that we spen time together just hanging out and having family fun.. oh and we always eat dinner together too..

we took summer vacations in the 70's and 80's, we do family road trips. dinner at the table daily. No those things have become a thing of the past what a great lost. Our family values are gone as well. Single parenthood is most likely the reason. having to work more hours to keep the household up. there less time at home and with the children. there is a way to get some of it back and that is my allowing your parents to spend as much time as they can to instill the family values. Grandparents have the time and the knowledge of what it is. Our foundation is one of the most important things we have and to give that to our children is of great importance, rather its from us parents or our parents, we owe that to our children no matter how busy or complicated our lives are.

I know a lot of adult families who still vacation together including my own. I think family life is coming back. People are realizing that family is important and this time spent can be very rewarding. A person likes to think they belong to something special, and it is a gift to have extended family.
