I live in Mississauga, Ontario, Zone 5 I think. I want to grow Calla Lilies in a pot, put on a shallow shelf inside a pond. Is this a good idea and what soild should be in the pot. It it is not a good idea I would appreciate anything you can advise me on with respect to Calla Lilies in my area. Thank you

Callas will do fine in the shallow part of a pond. Zone 5 is too cold to let them overwinter so you'll either need to take them out to a protected place or replace them the next year. Just use regular old top soil to pot them in a pond container. The lower the organic material content, the better. Don't put them in too deep of water, they're more of a bog plant than a real pond plant.
