Boy, I’ve been looking for brand-name-clothing online for the past four days. I went from Lacoste, Banana Republic, and Hugo Boss to Versace and Louis Vuitton. I was looking through all the top brands, and I wondered… Am I what I wear? Does that define me?

Of all the people around me, I’ve got to say that I’m dressed far and beyond from the way they dress. They wear Lacoste, and I wear Kirkland Signature. They wear Abercrombie and Fitch/American Eagle, and I wear Hanes. Sometimes I catch myself thinking… come on, seriously, does it really matter what I wear and what brand I wear? Does the society see me differently if I wear popular brands?

I think what one chooses, clothing, car (or to take public transportation), food, etc. does define one's personality. Especially if s/he is doing something that s/he truly likes, and not just because everybody else is doing it. (Although, that is definitive, too.)

I choose second hand clothing because I don't like to spend any more mone than necessary. Also, I'm an enviromentalist and I think that by purchasing clothing from second hand sources give extended life to something that might have otherwise wound up in a landfill. I buy my clothes as cheap as possible and keep them as long as possible. Also, by purchasing from thrift stores, I supporting quality organizations, like the Salvation Army, what Goodwill does, etc. Not lining some coporate CEO's pockets and supporting factory practices from God-knows-where-and-what.

This is my life and what I feel called to do. I don't think, in good conscious, that I could even buy off of the clearance rack at a retail store. Well, unless I really literally needed something, like shoes. Those are easier to buy new than second hand, especially since I'm an 11 wide. But even then, I'll keep them until they're past worn out.

I hope this helps.

No. I strongly believe that one doesn't have to wear branded clothes to look good. I mean sure Abercrombie and Fitch t's are awesome but so are the t's that you can find down the street for a much better price. Although you do have to look for some time longer than in a designer store, you get good value for your money

Unfortunately people probably will judge you on what type of clothing you wear, especially in middle and high school :(
But you shouldn't let that matter to you, wear your Hanes and feel great! And if they make a remark just reply: well at least I have enough money leftover from buying these clothes to buy a nice car/house/you pick!

hope I helped!

No. Iyam what Iyam...My clothes just protect the public from viewing my naked body and keep me warm. I am a mother, and on a very tight budget, so brands???? Only diapers for my son! I am not ashamed to get gently used clothing from thrift stores or stuff from clearance racks at Walmart for me and my kids. I also take donations of clothing second hand from people at church. Sheeeiiit. I am BROKE! If people don't like me because I don't look like money-thbbbbbttt. GO ON! I DON'T GIVE A GOOD GOTDANG!!! :D

Unfortunately they will look at the brands, if they are shallow. But don't worry as they mature this will go away.Mature adults spend their money on themselves and not clothes.Just because you pay a high price doesn't mean the quality is higher, only the price.Relax and wear what you want.

That depends...If someone has career job, expecting to make progress on the society ladder, clothing is undoubtedly a part of it...If your job is something rudimentary, like butcher, truck driver, fisherman, etc..., clothing doesn't really matter...

set(irony)=on

the brand of your clothes, furniture, car, computer, phone, the race of your dog and the sort of wine you drink is totally and completely describing your personality and abilities and you should not even think about being more than the stuff you own

set(irony)=off
