I have a 1993 Honda Civic, when i've changed the headlights (whole) and after one and a half years, it became dark. What's the cause of the darkening of the headlights?

are you asking about the lens or the bulb? And, it it only one light or both? If the problem is with the lens becoming cloudy the problem is with the plastic lens being affected by chemicals or ultraviolet light. Those lenses can be cleaned using a fine polishing compound or toothpaste.

if the bulb is dim then the problem is with the ground for the headlamp being corroded. the ground wire for the headlamp is screwed to the inside of each front fender using a cap screw. It is not unusual for those ground connections to become loose or rusted. You'll have to remove the cap screw and clean the terminal and the metal that it bolts to with fine sandpaper then reinstall the ground.

hope that helps

Check the wiring on your headlights. I own a 2001 Civic and the headlights went dark. I found out they were having a recall on those parts.

Actually, it may be that it is not compatible. First if it's plastic lens chances are because of the high voltage the casing can not withstand the temperature of the buld causing it to blacken. If it's not plastic the reflecting elements could've burned. Anyway, just check it first them replace it with the compatible one. Hope I helped a little. Cheers.

I think its because the head light was not compatible with your car or maybe the bulb was just worn off
