Hey Gabriela,

The best thing you can do is go over the surface with a very careful scan for a makers mark, that will help. Look on the undersides of the beds parts. If you take a picture an post it on Flikr, then share that - it would probably give someone a clue. Also, where did you buy it, that could help. You might go back to the seller and ask more questions.

depends on the age... if it's old (and not a reproduction) check to see where mahogany generally grows. A lot of times craftmans used wood that was grown locally, and certain areas had their own style.... other than that, check with an antique shop or take a pic to a local auction house. Most people that work there have significant knowledge on furniture, collectibles, etc.

If it is like my sister-in-law's, modern, heavy detailed figure carving, then it was probably made in the Phillipines or Indonesia as they make a lot of that stuff. If it is more elegant and finely carved then the only way to tell would be to look at the details and match them to various styles and then see if it is authentic antique or a reproduction.
