Wireless internet on laptops works by connecting wirelessly to a local domain (typically in a house or office). In order to connect wirelessly, you need to have a wireless networking device (either an external card that connects through your pcmcia slot or one internally embedded in the machine). Most new laptops have wireless cards pre-installed in the machine. The laptop communicates with a wireless access point in your location vacinity. Wireless routers also serve as access points.

It works with radio signals, much like two way radio, but through a devise called a router and other equipment. It had a limited range. If you go to places like some coffee houses, cafes, libraries, you could use the internet there, if they are set up for wi-fi [wireless fidelity].

the only difference b/w wired and wireless is there will be a wireless card in the laptop and a router which will emit the signal and there is not wire b/w them but in wired connection there is a wire b/w the modem and the system.
In wireless we will see the signal when you go to control panel and there go to network connections wireless network connection
view available networks
you'll be able to see your network and click on it and click connect....... thats it
wireless is nothing but there is no connection from router to laptop. thats it
