If you can't bury it I would take it to a vet to dispose of. Your last choice would be to put it into the trash.(I prefer taking it to the vet.)

Im sorry about your hamster. Preferably, you might want to put her in a box, then cover the body with a old hand towel. The hole should be about 3 or 2 feet deep, and if you let your hamster outside try burying it near it's favorite spot. If you did not, pick out a spot that you think you will like. If you want, you can also hold a small funeral.

Are you planning on letting them die??
As far as what to do, the least humane thing, which many people do, is roll them up in newspaper, and discard them in the trash.
You could also bury them in a remote location.
Expensive, but you could have them professionally cremated and discard or save the ashes.

My hamster, Delilah, just passed away yesterday and we are college students so we don't now where to burry her. But I think we will let the vet cremate her. That is probable your best option.

I Buried Mine when I was a Kid, very interesting.
I put it in a Pickle Jar,.... maybe a few months later I was diggin in that area.
I founf the Jar and My Hamster was totally preserved the way I buried him
I gues because pickle Jars have that air tight seal that makes them clamp down
Make a nice shoe box paint it paper it inside put his name on it put a ribbon on it then throw it gently in the trash
Since you live in a apt makes sense

In most places, its fine to throw them in the garbage.
You can take it and bury it somewhere if you prefer, but in most places it is perfectly legal to throw bodies of dead pets, even up to cat and dog size, in the trash.

What YOU elect to do will be determined by your own personality, morals, and values of life and death..whether human or animal.
During my children*s growing up years they had many pets....each one special and loved in it*s own right. To help teach them to be compassionate, caring, and to understand death....we always found a *favorite spot* in our yard and had a funeral(burial) so that they could say their good-byes. I can*t understand how anyone can love, and care for a *pet* for years, and at it*s demise just throw it away when there are better options available.
