Like the rest of the artists you've mentioned, he has the personality. He does not have the best vocals but he knows how to entertain the audience when he sings. Some voters when they are entertained, they don't care about the voice, all they know is the good feeling they feel when Sanjaya's singing.

I think alot of people hate the show and are voting for him to annoy fans of the show. Plus Howard Stern is encouraging his listeners to vote for him. Simon Cowell said he'd quit if Sanjaya won so maybe people who hate Simon are voting for him. I never watch that show but I've seen many clips on other shows of Sanjaya singing and you're right he isn't very good.

I think it's probably because of his hair and his smile.
He has a different hair style every single week and i think Brandy likes that. Eventhough I'm not a fan of Sanjaya, I've gotta say his smile is quite sweet. So... I guess this is why Sanjaya's still on A.I.

These are the reasons I know of:
1. There are a ton of people in India voting for him because they relate to him because he is part Indian.
2. Howard Stern has been encouraging his audience to vote for him because he's the worst singer on the show.
3. VoteForTheWorst.com has become very popular. They try to get everyone to vote for the worst singer.

the guy in the beloved underdog, people love rooting for the underdog, plus he is the fad singer for this season, once the season is over so will his career. i don't watch the show but heard him sing on clips aired on news shows. as long as he keeps charming the preteens and they get hold of the family telephone or cell phones he'll stay a while longer.
