Married or not married does not matter.

For Catholics one of the God parents needs to be a Catholic - technically you need only one Catholic sponsor to be baptized. The other God parent can be of another christian faith. They are a "Christian Witness" rather than a Sponsor.

So you can have a Sponsor and a Christian Witness whom we lump together as God parents

A God parent's duties has nothing to do with being married or not. You are not going to be raising the child. A god parent is one who stands up for the child as sort of a witness and to promise to make sure the child's religious life is on track. THAT IS ALL. A god parent does NOT take over guardianship of a child if something happens to the parents. In order for guardianship to be named the parents have to do that through a lawyer and notary public. Standing up as god parent is just a religious ceremony.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Heavenly Father). Almighty God is a separate supernatural being who dwells in the dominion Of Heaven. The Holy Spirit isn't a residing person in line with se, yet an excellent potential source ( basically like extremely violet rays from the sunlight) this is controlled and directed via God Himself. The Scriptures would not let us know if God (Heavenly Father) has mothers and dads or no longer. yet He would desire to have because of the fact how else became into He created?

The only single criteria for being a Good God parent is accepting the responsibility for the child's religious up bringing and NOT just turning up for birthdays with a bigger present than the other guests.

I think if he asked you it is okay that you are single. It is probably more about being a good adult the son can look to and rely on for a good example in life, so it is a compliment to you that they have asked you. Ask your friend what is expected of you if you are worried about accepting the responsibility. If you are not comfortable about any religious aspect of it, I would talk to your friend about it, or the priest. Good luck.

Firstly, the word is "his" and not "hes".

You can only be a legal, legitimate god-parent if you are Catholic.

If you're not Catholic, you can attend conversion classes and go from there. Married or not married doesn't matter, but religious affiliation does.
