I see these ads to earn your degree in a year but when you go to them it is for a bachelor's or a master's or something that you already have to have at least an associates for. Is there some online college or a school with an online program where I can get an associate's degree in a year? I'm just tired of trying to cut through bs.

There is a way to get a regionally accredited associates degree in liberal arts in a year, but it will be a lot of work. From there, you will be able to enroll in a regionally accredited online bachelors program from a state school.

Go to one of the following three schools and get their catalog and degree requirements for an AA degree in liberal arts.

Excelsior College - www.excelsior.edu
Charter Oak State College - www.cosc.edu
Thomas Edison State College - www.tesc.edu

Then go to http://www.collegeboard.com and look for CLEP tests. Get information on all of the different CLEP tests and try and match as many as you can to the degree requirements. Also, go to http://www.getcollegecredit.com and try and match DSST tests to other degree requirements.

Once you have an idea of what tests you will need to take, go to Amazon.com and order study guides. Also, go to http://www.instantcertonline.com and sign up for the online study materials. You can ask questions at the forum for instantcert at http://www.instantcertonline.com/forums/ The forums are free, you don't have to subscribe to the study materials site, if you don't want to.

There may be some courses that you will not be able to meet using CLEPs and DSSTs. Fill the rest with independent study courses at LSU. http://is.lsu.edu

Good luck

Depending on how many terms the college/university offers per year and how many courses you take; there might be a possibility to get a AS degree in a year (if you get the right courses too). Most colleges have AS degrees that are 60 semester hours in length. BS/BA's could be from 120-124.

For example: if a college offers 4 terms and you take 4 courses each term.

4 x 4 = 16 ----> that 16 is per term
Now 16 x 5 (terms in a year) = 60 semester hours.
60 semester hours in a specific field can get you an AS deg.

You definitely can, they are accelerated, so it's alot of work.

Congrats on your decision to further your education, you certainly don't want to end up with a career as a Level 7 Yahoo Answers guy, such as the poster above.
