In a few years this kid is going to be a force doesn't anybody agree? Scoring, rebounding, steals, BLOCKS, can shoot the three, can dish too...he just needs a few years to get some things down.

Most people are forgetting that Smith was a supposed to be a real project out of high school. Much like Dorell Wright of Miami (they were taken picks 17 and 19 respectively in 04). Wright is still largely an Athlete more than a baller. However Smith has proven that he has the ability to pretty much do anything on a basketball court. For a kid who could be a Jr at college he has proven that he can be the leader of an NBA team, which is what he did when Johnson was injured. With Joe gone he averaged over 20 points and nearly 10 boards both career high marks over a month long period of time. He has as much talent as anyone else in the game, and with a lot more work (which is entirely possible as i think Smith has only scratched the surface of his potential) he can become a top 5 player in the game by 10/11 season. Not bad for a dude who is only 21. Even if he doesn't expand his skills, he'll always be one of the most exciting players to watch, and a player who is worth the price of admission.

I agree with you. He's very explosive and has a great first step. Plus he gets off of the ground quickly - hence he blocks a lot of shots. He's also good at going either direction. In fact, guys play him to go to his left but he has a nice cross over to his right. It throws a lot of deneders off. The only thing that concerns me is that he has small hands. That's not the best attribute to have for combo forward, like Josh Smith. He needs to work on his shot a little more, and his Turnovers.

Ppl don't realize that he's actually an above avg passer as well. He has great court vision, and a high Basketball IQ. If he works on those small things, he can be a star in the NBA. Keep in mind that he would be just a Jr. in college right now.

Yes, in a few years if he keeps progressing, Josh Smith with be an unbelievable all around player, his problem right now is keeping his numbers consistant but that will come with time and his age and once he reaches that consistant level of play each and every night, WATCH OUT! This kid is an unbelievable talent, he can become even better if he keeps improving his shot from the perimeter because defenders like to give him room to shoot so that he can't just get to the basket and throw down a dunk so if he can get that jumper down they'll have to respect his range and he'll be capable of getting easier shots closer in at the basket....i see a ton of potential superstar talent in this player

Excellent players and can block shot too! The only problem is he is not playing in a good team. He needs some supporting players since he is not the best scorer and with a johnson-less Atlanta this season, he is just not shining. Also he needs to shoot better. His FT % is not very good. But overall, he can play ball and he should be an all-star eventually.

He's already a force and maybe the best player on his team, certainly the best now that Joe Johnson is out. Next year he should earn his first All-Star trip if he plays at the same or higher performance as this season. He is definitely still getting better, Hawks have a young nucleous and could be a real contender as soon as next season if they can play team ball.

I agree that he is a force in the NBA,but lately he is making a bad name for himself by arguing with the coach on the bench. He is starting to get a bad rep,but he is a good player and I do feel for him ,but there is a time and place to air you differences. He needs a veteran coach and a better point guard.

Agreed he can do it all and he is going to continue to get better... I do not think though he will be a phenom but for sure a multiple all star...

Not by far. He can't create his own shots.
