Is it really possible for all the oil to finish like that,no i do not think so.This is because as extraction takes place new composition for it also takes place. But it is unfortunate that the rate of extraction is far higher than the rate of composition.Anyway, should all the oil disappear i think there are other sources of energy we can rely on such as coal, electricity, nuclear as other people has said.
We only have to learn and research into other areas we've not explored. Also policy makers will have to play a vital role by formulating better policy concerning the use of our energy

This is a loaded question. You didn't ask "would our economy be screwed", but rather, "how screwed would our economy be". Thus, you have assumed to be what may never be. If oil completely disappeared from this plant tomorrow, it would hurt. It would hurt bad. Indeed, it would be catastrophically bad. But it wouldn't be the end of the world. What this country needs to do is re-invest our engineering and technical skills in nuclear power for two reasons - cheap electrical power and fresh water. We must do this or we will quickly run out of resources to sustain ourselves.

Not very screwed. Because oil consumption only account for 50% on transportation. Without oil, we still have bicycles to travel around. Oil accounted for only slightly less than 40% on energy as the rest is powered by coal, hydro, nuclear, solar, wind, thermal, biomass, etc. So the economy won't be finished. Instead, things will become more moderate.

Almost no electricity is generated from oil and only some heating, but almost all transportation is powered by oil. We would not be able to get food to cities, coal to power plants, or people to work. A 10 % cut back would screw the economy, a complete shut off and millions would die. If we had 20 years warning we could probably adapt with eclectically powered cars and trucks, but we would need to come up with a new technology for air travel.

look at the things all around you.. which isnt powered by electricity... well we can always rely on coal which is still relatively abundant compared to oil... but its also true we will choke to death and lower productivity in all countries... aha so ya i think we'd be dead (esp since nuclear energy is still not tat common)

we'd be screwed for a few years - maybe a few decades. but of course we'd adapt. either by the discovery/invention of new energy sources, or by simply getting used to riding horses and buggies again.

no biggie.

i think we have to depend upon other sources such as solar, wind etc
