I once got a thumbs down for answering a yes or no question with 'yes.'

I second your opinion!
Those thumbs down somehow hurts especially when the question was sensible and you gave a sensible answer, then for some reason somebody would tick the thumbs down just because you don't agree with them or if you happen to give the first correct answer and they have the same answer as yours... ;(

I have only done that to someone who was a smart A_ _ and shouldn't have commented to begin with. Some people answer questions that others have and don't take into consideration the feelings of the person that is actually looking for guidance and listing their question. Idiots, with nothing better to do, than post rude comments deserve a thumbs down. However, those who honestly care and are trying to give their heart felt opinion do NOT deserve a thumbs down. Someone may have been jealous of your reply or may have just been beeing an idiot having fun and giving everyone and anyone a thumbs down that they could find because they had a bad day. Don't let it get you down. Keep trying to help those out there that really need some input.

Well, I would agree with both side, depending on how the questions and answers are.
If it's a "yes/no" then you shouldn't get the thumbs down.
Say, you say "yes", other who disagree should put a "THUMBS UP" on the answer that say "NO"
It's like a voting system.
But, if the question asking more, like asking for advice, then you'd would look at the answers and see if it's appropriate.
With that, it should be okay to put a thumbs down.
Personally, I don't care. I only answer what I know, what I think(and trying to obey the rules for that matter).
If anyone doesn't like it, delete it, put a thumbs down on it, that's their problem, not mine.

its stupid for a person to give you a thumbs down just for answering yes or no question, i agree.
but i would give people thumbs down if i ask a question and they end up insulting me for no reason or for fun. and if its a very bad insult, i will report them. i know i cant control what people say, but people can control their stupidity, just the matter of fact that they will or they wont. and if they are going to want to use their stupidity with me, i will protect myself from them by reporting them, which i have.

Well this is my opinion this is a stupid question.
I just wanted to see if someone would give me a thumbs down.Didn't happen.Anyway, some people are just mean and feel like doing it.At the same time rude,mean,nasty,etc. opinions ask for it.
