I absolutely LOVE them...

But I understand people not liking them...
I mean, we all have our own opinions, like if you don't like them, just don't listen to their music... do something else...

What I don't get is people who keep labeling them and hating them with such fury...

Good question! I think it is a combination of a few things: people who don 'get' MCR refer to them as Emo and this subculture is hated for allegedly being about selfharm, whiny teenagers who should have nothing to complain about but still do and sexual ambiguity. Even though it is 2007, don't underestimate the queasiness the latter still inspires in some people!
MCR are, falsely as you and I both know, bunged in with the Emo scene because people enjoy labelling. (These are the same people who see two teenagers of the same gender kissing and suffer a heart attack I daresay.) I have no idea why MCR are called Emo. Maybe because to the untrained and indifferent eye it's the one subculture after Punk and Goth that most closely fits them? Anyone can see that they're not those two, so they must be Emo? I don't go about labelling people, so I honestly have no idea what goes on in the heads of people who do.
I think a lot of hatred in general stems from ignorance. This is certainly the case with MCR. Why else would they be referred to as an Emo Death Cult, a bunch of ******* and advocates of suicide and automutilation? Ignorance! If you listen to their music properly and take a minute to peruse the lyrics in the CD booklet, you'll find out what fans the world over have known for years: that MCR stand for hope, life, tolerance, freedom and individuality.
I get what you're saying about the difference between simply not liking them and furiously hating them. My experience is that whenever something inspires this much hatred, it is because it poses a threat to the status quo. And fear will always be disguised as hatred. Remember that, and wear your love for MCR with pride. You're on the side of the good guys.

People can't handle it when there's something that's different than what they like. If they're not a fan of it, they think that the fans must be freaks and that the band must be some psycho band out to get everyone to commit suicide.

Don't worry what other people say about MCR, even though tons of people absolutely hate them to death... there are still a TON of fans that love the band. They're a good band, so don't stop listening to them!

before i start up i'm thoroughly impartial i dont no longer hate them, yet i do unlike them or pay interest to there song. One reason i hate them is that each and every time i %. up a song mag with them on it and attempt to examine a piece of writing Gerard way complains about how complicated the album replaced into to make and the way it virtually killed, and how he doesnt want to be a huge rockstar. in my opinion i imagine he could advance up. yet another is there at the instantaneous are such truly some emo's or worse wemo's (wannabe emo's). They insist they're unique yet such truly some won't be able to be unique. also they might have written a idea album, many many bands have performed that and one circling death isn't that unique, many bands have performed that. I wont deny they don't look proficient, and sound high quality at shows unlike a lot of bands. My very last factor is they look so customary with the full twenty first centuary perfect songs record. they don't look the perfect (no longer the worst both) yet that in basic terms angers me because there's a lot extra acceptable song. that's my reviews everybody is entitled to pay interest inspite of they need and extremely some bands i pay interest to will make human beings flow "they suck" or inspite of yet its my style. those are in basic terms my reviews.

I think it just mostly comes down to a matter of taste. I myself enjoy their songs but I've heard comments saying that they're rather dark and goth. And the lead singer does tend to go a bit overboard on his stage actions and expressions. Hey, I love it! It's fodder for conversation. Most of the people who take the time and effort to bash MCR (or anyone else for that matter) are just haters in nature. They probably hate the sun for rising in the east... hate a dog for wagging it's tail...you get the idea.

The people who hate them have never given them a chance or they are just jealous in a way because mcr has become so successful over the years. I agree they arent emo. not one song is about hating yourself and trying to hurt yourself. They are trying to send out the complete opposite message.

I like their Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge album. But people are entitled to their own opinion. Growing up, my dad hated my Black Sabbath albums, among others.
