If you are younger than your late 20s or early 30s, you shouldn't need any of that stuff, and it can actually mess up your face. At those younger ages, your cell turnover rate on your face is still pretty quick, so all you should need is a good cleansing routine and general exfoliation several times a week.

Chemical peels and microdermabrasion are designed for older people whose cell turnover rate has slowed down considerably. I have a home microdermabrasion kit, but I would never dream of using it as often as the instructions suggest because pretty soon I would have no face left. And chemical peels are pretty harsh--I don't plan to have to do anything with those for quite a while.

If you are concerned about your acne scars, one of the best things to help those heal is Vitamin E oil. You can either buy the capsules and poke a hole in them, or you can just buy the oil, and dab it on with your fingers. It's super for scars.

You need to understand that your skin may not be perfect for a while, and that's okay. In fact, it's pretty normal if you are in your teens or early 20s. Some people just have better skin than others. The best thing to do at that age is to develop a good skin care routine, and make a habit of sticking to it.
If your tone is a bit uneven, make sure to use a moisturizer with sunscreen in it every day, and exfoliate with a gentle scrub a couple of times a week. That should be all you need.

Good luck.

Save your money & see a dermatologist. Retin-A can help even skin tone & minimize light acne scars by stimulating collagen production.

Home chemical peels & microdermabrasion kits are good for exfoliation but I think you'll get better results by seeing doctor.

Buy one of those rough wash cloths and scrub scrub scrub every day and night. Don't try the chemical peel yourself - too dangerous - by scrubbing with plain old Ivory soap and water you will eventually shed all those ugly blemishes and bright, shiny, healthy new skin will take over. We shed our skin anyway, why not help it along a little faster? After scrubbing, soothe your skin by applying Witch Hazel with a cotton ball or cloth. And lay off the covering makeup to give your skin a chance to breathe.

Good Luck!
