A kidney stone is a solid piece of material that forms in the kidney out of substances in the urine.

A stone may stay in the kidney or break loose and travel down the urinary tract. A small stone may pass all the way out of the body without causing too much pain.

A larger stone may get stuck in a ureter, the bladder, or the urethra. A problem stone can block the flow of urine and cause great pain.

Kidney stones are passed through the ureter, into the bladder, and out the urethra if you're lucky. Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is often successful at breaking the stones down to a passable size.

If you're not lucky, surgery is the only answer; there are a variety of different surgeries to remove kidney stones, varying in degrees of invasiveness.

Kidney stones or "renal calculi" are accretions or aggregations of dissolved minerals dissolved in urine; most are composed of calcium oxylate. They generally form in the kidneys or ureters.

They come out the uretha, and are made of extra calcium, that is what the stones are made of. My sister passed away she was born with 1 kidney and the other had stones.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

Peeing them out is not what hurts, they are very small. They block up your ureter and that is what causes the pain. The pain is in your lower back and shoots down your legs. I've had 6 or so.

They can be broken up to a certain degree by soundwave therapy (no, not shouting at your kidneys... bombardment by a high-frequency ultrasound device), but in the end you're going to have to pass them... "pee them out" as the fella above said. Not fun.
