I'm 16 years old and I'm in the 10th grade and I'm homeschooled but when I'm finished with highschool I'll need a 65,000 dollar scholarship. How do I get it?

Being home schooled is a problem when it comes to getting scholarships. When you finish school there is basically no way for the college to tell that actually learned anything unless you take the standardized tests like the SAT and ACT and score really high, almost perfect scores.

I have never heard of anyone getting a $65K scholarship. Even if your family is almost totally impoverished, the school will expect you to pay part of your own expenses by loans and working. Right now the most expensive schools cost about $50 - $55K, so the best scholarships are around $40k. But very, very few kids get those. A typical scholarship for a very good student at a generous school would be about $25k to $30K.

Instead of randomly asking strangers here on Yahoo, try to get to your local library - there are several good books on how to choose a college and they all have sections on financial aid and how it is distributed. If you are smart enough to get a scholarship, you are smart enough to read these and figure out a plan.

Good luck.

Try to check out fastweb.com- there are tons of scholarships that are available to people like you. Different scholarships has different criterias. Also, if you are moving on to college there are federal financial aid called FAFSA, where they might give you money depending on your parents' financial income. If you need to, you can go and take out loans with an affiliate of the future school you are planning to go to. They have low intrests and they wont ask you for the money till you graduate from college. They give you a 6 month grace period(for most places). Grace period is the time that they give you till you find a job. Even if you cannot find one after 6 months you still have to start paying back. If you can, you might consider saving up money now and possibly get a job. Also in college they have something called work study, where you can work to pay off your college tution!....Good luck with everything!
