Okay currently i have a ASUSTek Computer INC. Amberine M 1.03 motherboard. I have no idea what that all means.

Pretty much i have a3500+ amd 64bit processor. I want to be able to have the benefits of a dual core or even a dual core duo. Problem with this is i dont know if my motherboard is compatible.

I bought the computer a year ago, so i would asume it would be, but i dont wanna make a mistake of buying a processor and not being able to use it. So how do i find out if it can support a certant processor? I hear people talking about certant processors with certant chip sets and have no clue whats going on.

SO pretty much, how can i find out if my current chipset/motherboard will work right with an AMD dual core? If so what would you recomend? Should i buy another motherboard? If so, how do i know which processor works with which motherboard?

Thanks alot, i really apreciate the time and effort you guys put into answering my lame questions :)

Your motherboard is an Asus proprietary board for HP. It is designed for AMD socket 939 processors. You can upgrade to AMD Athlon64 X2 3800-4600 (Manchester) or X2 4400-4800 (Toledo). Another option would be the Athlon64 FX 53 -FX 62 gaming processors. These are all S-939 processors. It's just a matter now of up to what your motherboard BIOS can support.

Yepp, no longer lots to work out. i do no longer wanna worry going to work out the mobo, yet from what you have there, Socket LGA 1155 for contemporary Intel processors, no longer the greater moderen 2011 yet nevertheless contemporary. 4 slots for DDR3 RAM working at 1866MHz supported speed. 6 SATA inputs, does not specify speed nevertheless (6.0GB/s or 3.0GB/s?) USB 3.0 help, probable has a million or 2 USB 3.0 ports and perhaps a header or 2 on the motherboard itself. TUF Thermal Armor........ no theory. ATX is the variety element of the motherboard. Rev 3 skill this is the third revision of the motherboard.

Sooooooo many choices out there dude...
#1. I you want to know "what" processors are compatible with your mobo, then look up the mobo specs on the ASUS site!
They will give you a list of CPU's that will work with that board...if it doesn't work with a dual core processor then you'll have to get another mobo that will support it...Which mobo is up to You!
But how do you find compatible mobos? The CPU will give you a list of compatible mobos for starters...then look a their specs and then you'll know what spec it need and look at other mobos...most will say Intel Duo or Quad core processor ready! Or AMD Core 2 processor ready...do the research like the rest of us had too....it's actually fun for me...but that's if I'm building my own computer and not someone elses...

Um, I think that you should just go to your motherboard manufacturer's web site and look up the specs on your particular motherboard model.
If you can't find it, see if there is a section for 'legacy' devices (if your motherboard is old). Also, there should be a search text box on the site's web page that you can use.

Check this ASUS link for Info. YOu should have an Owner's Manual that tells you what CPUs the board supports as well.
