I have a Nissan 300zx Turbo 1985 3.0L 205hp. It has 96528k miles and runs great. I was wondering how/where and if it is worth it to get a bigger turbo installed. I had a mechanic drive my car. The mechanic told me that the turbo runs great. the thing is though, I want more torque, more pull. Any advice on this question would be great! Thanks

I used to own one of these cars. The poor car now rest in piece(s) now. The the 300zx turbos have a real low 7 : 1 compression ratio, because the engine interals are rather weak, if you want a larger turbo you might want to look into aluminum rods/pistons/crankshaft, a performance ecu, and you'll probably need a better mas sensor. The fuel injectors a rather small too, you'll have to up there size. You should be able to run alot more psi, I believe it runs 7 psi stock right? I ran a custom twin turbo setup on mine at 15 psi. If you're looking for a cheap upgrade, look into blow off valves, you can easily shave a few seconds off your quarter mile.

Turbo is mainly for horsepower increases, and at higher RPMs.

A bigger turbo will only make that worse.

the turbo kicks in at the mid range of the rpms if you want more power off the block get an air intake, headers, less restrictive exhaust, lighter cranks and pulleys, bigger injestors, high performance fuel pump and fuel rail, msd ignition, coil and wires ,iridium plugs and reprogram ecm

A larger turbo,a cam, titanium pistons, ignition timer, free flow catalytic converter and, change your ecu to a high performance chipped one. That will take you there and, be sure to stop by the bank on your way !
