I think he sang slightly better than his sister which is why he got on - but I think he stays on because of his big fixed smile and those eyes have hypnotized all the youngsters to vote for him. There is no other rational explanation for him being on American Idol.

I think he had a shot so they let him in. I don't think they planned on him lasting this long. Unfortunatly, viewers control the outcome, so the judges really don't have a say now.

Ratings! He is a media circus.. That is how they get people to watch the show every week..

maybe they had a hunch that he would bring in the ratings, since many girls love him
