He was sitting on the bench. I don't understand it.

Because Joey Crawford is the worst official in the NBA...and quite possibly a Mavericks fan. I hate when the refs decide the outcome of games and don't leave it up to the players.

Dallas' Jason Terry and Bowen got offsetting technicals for jawing at each other less than two minutes into the second half. There were hard fouls both ways, then Duncan got a technical with 2:20 left in the quarter for arguing about an offensive foul against him. He went to the bench soon after, then was tossed from there because of something he said. He'd been laughing about a call that went against San Antonio.

This was so unbelievable. Tim Duncan got his second technical for laughing on the bench with his teammates. Since when are you not allowed to laugh??? Joey Crawford should be fined for this. He had a personal vendetta against Duncan that started before this game. David Stern needs to stop this kind of behavoir before it gets out of hand. The NBA is becoming way to strict on it's players. How many NFL, MLB and NHL players laugh as well as argue on the sidelines and nothing happens to them. The refs need to stick to the game, NOT the bench.

The NBA does not stand sarcasm against its officials. Duncan already had a technical foul. When he laughed after a decision went against the Spurs, he got a second technical in the same game. Two technicals mean that you are ejected out of the game.

That is just coach Popovich's sense of humor kicking in. He's not angry at Tim or Manu, he's just concerned about giving them rest and making sure they are 100% for this weekend. He clarified his earlier joke. "The real bottom line is that I'm paranoid about Tim being healthy and Manu being healthy for the playoffs," he said. "We've had playoffs where Timmy hasn't played, where Manu hasn't played, where Timmy has been half-speed, where Manu has been half-speed, for a variety of reasons. We're entering this playoff pretty healthy ... and I didn't want to screw that up. I thought that was more important to us than worrying about who we play."
