Try using Limewire instead. Though there spyware on some softwares there, I haven't had viruses when I download music. I've already downloaded tons of music and I haven't encountered single virus.

Use Limewire. Its a software, not a site. And I don't think there is a 100% virus-free downloader. You just have to scan every song before playing to make sure that there is no virus.

This answer is tentative as sites change (as soon as monopolies take over sites the effects are usually degraded).

In any event, I've found that bearshare.com is the best for the following reasons (however, most free sites come with a catch...in the case of bearshare, you will want to run norton spyware scan once to eliminate the popup program they put in by default...after that you're good to go as long as you don't fall for the gimmick and choose to "upgrade" which changes the program).

bearshare offers peer to peer utilizing limewire and gnutella as well as their own filesharing. Much more is obtainable than simply music. You can download proprietary software (unless you agree with the dictates of conglomerates), movies (ditto), books, and more.

And finally, IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING....WHENEVER YOU DO ANYTHING ON THE NET IT IS ALWAYS BEST TO KEEP A COPY OF YOUR IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS AND FILES OFFLINE VIA A THUMBDRIVE, CD, DVD, OR OTHER BACKUP JUST IN CASE SOME LOWLIFE SHOULD HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN SPREAD MISERY WHICH AFFECT ALL OF US WHICH SHARE (and not for nothing but some have shown that the corporations themselves initiate many of these....microsoft was found guilty of this in one of the documentaries I share on the net).

have fun and roll with the punches.....we all get fooled at times but don't let that get you down and keep your spirits up despite the speed bumps.....we only live for a mere 50-70 years so this is all just a small thing~~~!

Dial 1-800-PIRATE and turn yourself in before the Music Industry police find out where you live and come and take your computer away and fine you lots of $$$.

What you are doing is effectively saying "Hello, I am a pirate and I don't mind everyone knowing that I download copyrighted material off the internet!"

What makes you think none of the other P2P's won't cause computer problems?

With using p2p sites, you are at risk everytime you download. You are accepting a file from a stranger who could add a virus/trojan etc with that file.

Bittorrent is the way to go these days. You can get a client (ABC) from http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/ and then search for all of your favorit musicians from www.torrentspy.com.

Happy Pirating!!!
