i have a dell dimension 2400...and it uses DDR 333 PC2700..i bought another stick same thing..and when i boot up..i hear beeps..i know this is an error...but..how come..and how can i fix this...is the ram destroyed..or do i have to do something b4 i can manually install the new ram..????

Most likely it is a bad memory module.

Take out the new memory and put it back in, make sure you have the notch aligned and it snaps in all the way.

If it still does not work, you probably got a bad unit, bring it back to the store for a replacement.

The vacant memory slot might have accumulated dirt resulting to poor contact w/ your new module. Repeated reseating might do the trick. You can test the new module on the slot occupied by your old RAM. If the new module does not work on the slot previously occupied by your old RAM, better return it for a replacement.
